Part of the Social Media Marketing for Trade Shows series

(Below is a list of popular SM portals. They are divided in 2 categories; Content Holder and Content Director.)

Content Holders are SM portals where your content will be.

  • Blogs: Diary style posts. Use a Blog like a website or refine it to share more specific information. Fill it with helpful and informative content then link your Content Director portals to it.
  • You Tube: Internet video site. Upload and manage your videos. You can also create your own channel for your customers and followers. Not only can you archive videos you can now broadcast in real time.

Content Directors are SM portals you will use to direct the audience to your content.

  • Linked In: Professional group discussion social site. Many business professionals use it to share and receive knowledge on topics in discussion groups. Also, they connect with colleagues and let them know what they are currently working on.
  • Twitter: Micro blogging site. Follow links to videos, pictures, other online content that interest you. You can develop your own group of followers depending on your content. Create or follow unique hash tags “#” to brand discussions.
  • Emails: The original way to be social electronically…and still popular. With email distribution services you can send out Monthly Newsletters, Product / Services emails or Announcements to your entire contact list in a click. The old tried and true is still a great way to communicate.

Check out the above mentioned portals and get a feel for their social environments. Start brain storming creative ways to link them together to share content.
